Dear Does Stress Cause Acne? Will Sunlight Help?,

Unfortunately, it is true that stress can cause acne to worsen. Believe it or not, emotional stress can lead to physical body changes such as acne. Healthline explains that when the body is stressed or sick, it takes longer for it to heal itself which results in more break outs or pimples taking longer to go away.

WebMD explains that the light therapy that can help some acne is from blue or red light, not sunlight. These special lights kill acne causing bacteria. These treatments can be done at the dermatologist’s office (doctor who specializes in skin). Although direct sunlight may help dry out pimples in the moment, it can cause more breakouts down the road.  It is very important to make sure you wear sunscreen to protect your skin from UV rays that the sun gives out. There are many products available that even help current breakouts while protecting you from the sun. We hope this helps!
