Is it bad to leave on nail polish for long periods of time? I leave nail polish on my toenails for weeks and weeks. But sometimes when I finally take the polish off my nails (usually it's my toenails) they have these white marks. Is that bad?

The problem with leaving nail polish on your nails for long periods of time is that the polish can end up drying out the nails. The white spots you see when you do take off your polish after weeks and weeks of keeping it on are evidence of this.

The solution to this problem is not to go for prolonged periods of time with your polish on. One sign that it’s time to take off your polish and let your nails breathe is if the polish is beginning to chip. If your pedicure hasn’t started chipping yet, but 2-3 weeks have gone by, then it would be a good idea to take off the polish and let the nails breathe for a bit before applying more nail polish.
