Can Tea Heal A Sunburn?
Someone told me you could use tea for a sunburn. Is that true?
Black tea contains an antioxidant called tannic acid, which can help heal sunburned skin and decrease redness. To benefit from this at-home remedy, chill a moistened tea bag (green or black tea will work) and then rub it gently on your skin.
While there are various treatments and home remedies that can help ease the symptoms associated with sunburn, it’s definitely best to take preventative measures so your skin doesn’t get burned in the first place. According to the Mayo Clinic, you want to avoid the sun between 10am and 4pm, provide as much cover for yourself as you can from the sun, use a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher liberally and frequently, and wear sunglasses when outdoors.
