I have Been Having Some Weight Fluctuations
I'm a healthy fifteen year old girl. But lately, I've been having some weight fluctuations. I used to weight 120 but now I weight 130. I've gained about a pound a day. I know this is a healthy weight for a girl my age. But I want to know what's causing this. Is it just a growth spurt, puberty, stress, or what I eat? I don't want to lose weight, I just want answers.
Your body is growing and changing and some fluctuation in weight is common. The import factor is that your weight is in the healthy range. However, if you want a precise answer to your question then you could consult with your doctor. If you have a regular doctor then she/he will be familiar with your medical history which along with her/his current observations ought to be able to educate you as to what changes your body is going through and if there is anything to be concerned about. Even if you are meeting with a doctor for the first time she/he will take an extensive medical history as well as do an examination so that he/she will be able to satisfy any questions that you have.
If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health in Morristown 973-971-6475 or the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health in Summit at 908-522-5757 for an appointment. Outside this area contact a local Adolescent Medicine Specialist, your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood.
