Deposhot & Unprotected Sex Same Day. Should I Be Concerned?
Unfortuantely, TeenHealthFX cannot diagnose over the internet. According to WebMD, the deposhot works immediately IF you received during your period. If you did not receive the shot during your period, there is a chance you may get pregnant. We strongly recommend trackign your period cycle. If you miss a period, take an at home pregnancy test and follow up with a doctor.
If you need help finding a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist. In addition, it is important to note that the depo shot does not prevent STI/STDs.
TeenHealthFX would like to mention the importance of practicing safe sex. We encourage all teens to use condoms every time they engage in any type of sexual activity. You can lower your chances of giving or getting STDs during oral sex by using a condom, dental dam or other barrier method every time you have oral sex. Condoms are 98% in preventing the transmission of sexually transmitted infections when used correctly and on every sexual encounter.
