Why Is Vaping So Bad?
Teenhealth FX understands there is a lot of confusing information about vaping. The CDC (Centers of Disease and Control) states that vaping is extremely unsafe for any age group, especially teens. Vaping / e-cigarettes is the heating up of a liquid that contains nicotine, flavoring and other chemicals. E-cigarettes (such as juuls, elfbars, puff bar, lava bar, etc.) contain high levels of nicotine in their products, which is a highly addictive ingredient. The CDC says that 99% of e-cigarettes / vapes sold contain nicotine. Even ones that say they have 0% nicotine.
Vaping can hurt teen brain development; the human brain continues developing until the age of 25. The use of nicotine can hurt development, as well as the ability to focus, learn, mood and impulse control.
TeenhealthFX also wants all teens to be aware that vaping products can also be disguised as products with marijuana/THC. Marijuana is a drug that can affect brain function, decisions, being able to drive, think through decisions, cause hallucinations and/or paranoia. The use of marijuana can also increase the chances of becoming dependent (craving and needing) the drug often to go about a normal day.
Although there is still a lot to learn about the long-term effects of vaping, research does show that it can make other health problems worse, such as asthma, lung conditions, increase the risk of cancer and more.
