What Are The Monthly Steps to Take in a Relationship?
TeenHealth FX knows that dating is a new and confusing experience for teens. “Monthly steps” to take towards a relationship is something that was implemented by society. For those who may not know, an example of the “rules/ steps” in relationships is that someone should be asked to become a couple officially by 3 months. There is no professional research that says following those “rules / steps” would lead to a more successful relationship.
What TeenHealth FX does agree with is communicating your boundaries with your potential partner. If you are both getting to know each other, feel that things are going in a positive direction and believe that within 3 – 6 months you should take the next step to officially dating then you are 100% allowed to communicate that.
Do not let society put pressures on your potential relationship because everyone and every relationship is completely different. Some people move at a faster pace, while others may move at a slower pace with dating or saying I love you. Checking in with your partner to see if you guys are on the same page with different topics is a great place to start.
As long as YOU and YOUR BOUNDARIES are being respected / communicated then that is a good foundation for a healthy relationship.
