Can I Get an IUD at 17 Without Parent Permission?
The answer all depends on where you live. Under normal circumstances, it is possible to get an IUD without parent permission. However, different states have different laws in regards to IUDs. For example. many states require a minor to be married before having access to birth control without parental conscent. Other states have laws in place that state a doctor does not HAVE to tell your parents, but still can if they want it. In addition, if you are covered under your parents health insurance, they may receive a "explanation of benefits" that shows you received one. We encourage you to check your states guidelines and/or ask your doctor to help you look into it.
