I Have Thrush On My Penis

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have had thrush on my penis for a number of years and ignored it and recently when I went to the doctors and got one of the strongest creams that they have it doesnât get rid of the thrush even after about 3 weeks of using it, what should I do and will I ever be able to get rid of it ?

TeenHealthFX is sorry to hear of your current situation and glad you have seen a doctor about it. Even though thrush (also known as a yeast infection) is not considered a sexually transmitted infection, it is very important to follow the guidelines the doctor gives you and to refrain from all sexual activity until it heals completely.

We recommend going back to your doctor and letting him or her know that the cream has not cleared the infection and he/she may have to prescribe something else and/or refer you to a specialist. In the meantime, WebMD explains it is also helpful to keep the area clean and dry as well as wearing loose fitting underwear to allow it to heal.
