Male Yeast Infection
Both women and men can get genital yeast infections from a fungus called candida. In males, the infection usually appears as small white spots, redness, or a dry, peeling rash on the penis accompanied by itching, irritation, or burning on the tip of the penis. If a woman gives oral sex to a male partner with this infection, it is possible that she could get an infection in her mouth, called thrush. If someone has thrush, it’s possible to pass the fungus that causes thrush to someone else through kissing. It is possible that person might develop thrush. Most male yeast infections are easily treated. Contact your healthcare provider to find at which over-the-counter antifungal medication they would recommend. Remember, it’s best not to have sex until all the symptoms of infection are gone. If you do have sex, TeenHealthFX recommends a dental dam for oral sex and a condom for vaginal or anal sex.
