Home Schooled and Want to Lose Weight

Dear TeenHealthFX,

Dear TeenHealthFX, I really want lose weight I'm 12 and weigh like 149 and at least want to lose 20 pounds but I do home schooling and don't get out much anymore and I want to lose it in like 6 months what should I do?


Dear Home Schooled and Want to Lose Weight,

Why not make health and fitness part of your home schooling. There are two very valuable and practical subjects that are part of almost all public and private schools curriculum. The beauty of home schooling is that your can tailor the program to meet your needs. 

The best approach would be to educate yourself on nutrition and healthy eating and then put it into practice. The earlier a young person adopts this approach the more the likelihood that it can lead to a lifetime of healthy behavior. The same goes for exercising and other physical activities. When you are consistent in your physical regimen then it becomes much easier to follow. Your activity doesn’t have to be over strenuous; you just need to find out what activities you like and the amount of effort you should be putting in. 

If you can set up a program with the person who oversees your home schooling then you won’t have worry about weight goals or a time frame. Developing good habits will take care of all of that. In many ways, homeschooling really can provide you with a unique opportunity to focus on this area because it gives you the luxury of being all about your health.
